Magic Lantern slide show

Ruth Giddings has a series of comedic agricultural slides by illustrator Heath Robinson from around 1910-1920’s. Her son-in-law is a professional cider maker, so she had the one shown in the photo blown up for him.

The Castlemaine Historical Society will be featuring a Magic Lantern slide show at this Monday’s meeting, November 4.

The magic lantern is a predecessor of the projector, and was commonly used from the 18th -20th century.

Guest speaker Darron Davies is a local magic lantern enthusiast who will speak about the history of the lantern.

The slide show will feature more than 50 slides, from the 1880’s to 1990’s with varying scenes including one slide of the Sydney Harbour before the bridge was built.

Monthly meeting 7.30pm on Monday November 4.

At the Former Court House, 7 Goldsmith Crescent, Castlemaine.
