Are you looking for a career change or to sharpen your skills? Mount Alexander Shire Council invites you to attend the free Training & Skills Fair at the Castlemaine Town Hall next Wednesday September 2.
The Castlemaine Mail/Midland Express are proud to be supporters of this event which will will bring together 35 organisations offering employment opportunities, training providers, apprenticeships, career support services and small business advice.
Whether you’re seeking your first job, looking to build new skills, planning a career change, considering further study, or an aspiring entrepreneur looking to exploring business opportunities, the fair provides practical information and expert guidance in one place.
The expo floor will feature five dedicated zones:
Career Guidance and Support
Access free one-on-one advice, career planning resources and scholarship information from organisations including APM (Career Transition Assistance), are-able, Australian Careers Consortium, Bendigo and District Aboriginal Co-operative (BDAC), Castlemaine SES, Volunteering Loddon Mallee and Community Bank Maldon and District (2027 Scholarship Program).
Apprenticeships and Trades
Explore trade pathways with CVGT Employment, Westvic Staffing Solutions, Trade Institute of Victoria and the Ai Group Apprentice and Trainee Centre, covering building, construction and mechanical industries.
Earn While You Learn
Discover paid traineeships and career pathways with major employers such as Victoria Police, Ambulance Victoria, the Australian Defence Force (ADF
Careers), Forest Fire Management Victoria, the Department of Justice and Community Safety, GAME Traffic and Contracting, Dhelkaya Health and
Mount Alexander Shire Council.
Train and Get Qualified
Learn about local and flexible study options from La Trobe University, Bendigo TAFE, Castlemaine Community House, Duke Education, genU Training, IVET Group and Licences4Work.
Start a Business
Connect with mentors and advisers from Asuria, Startup Central Victoria and Business Victoria’s Small Business Bus for practical support to help turn
business ideas into reality.
Mount Alexander Shire Council Mayor, Cr Toby Heydon, encouraged residents of all
ages and backgrounds to attend.
“Whether you’re finishing school, considering a career change, returning to study, or
planning to start a business, taking the next step can feel daunting,” said Cr Heydon.
“This fair brings together employers, training providers and support services under
one roof, making it easier to explore opportunities.”
In addition to the expo, attendees can register for three practical workshops:
– 12.30pm to 1.15pm: Transitioning from school to work and training.
– 12.30pm to 1.15pm: Returning to study and training.
– 1.15pm to 2.00pm: Pathways into vocational education and training (VET).
To support attendees who prefer a quieter environment, a Relaxed Opening will be held from 9.45am to 10am before the main expo begins.
Entry to the fair and workshops is free. Registrations are encouraged to assist with planning and event updates.
