Castlemaine’s beloved book shop Stoneman’s Bookroom is celebrating its 65th Birthday in 2026 and has been holding a range of special events to mark the milestone.
This Saturday October 10 the local institution will be celebrating ‘Love Your Book Shop Day’ celebrating bookshops, booksellers and the conversations that lead us to great books.
The local store will offer a host of activities including a Colouring Competition and a chance to win the national LYBD prize, Story time and a singalong with Stoneman’s own Lloyd Dodsworth, and the opportunity to dress as your favourite book character and go in the running to win a $10 book voucher. This is a great opportunity to crack out those Book Week costumes for a second time!
You can even fill in a LYBD form to help our talented local booksellers match your interests to your perfect book!
Stoneman’s Bookroom proprietor John Walter said it will be an opportunity to celebrate all things books.
“The highlight for us will be the opportunity for people to win a bookseller experience at the store. In 50 words or less, tell us why you would love to spend two-hours in-store with staff enjoying a behind the scenes experience. We have three prizes up for grabs!” John said.
Entries for this unique in-store experience close at 5pm today, October 9, so be quick to drop in your entry at Stoneman’s Bookroom or email your entry to info@stonemansbookroom.com.au
