The Bowl Over Breast Cancer fundraiser at Harcourt Bowling Club last Sunday October 5 has been declared an incredible success with more than $20,000 raised at the time of going to press.
What began as an idea by local stage 4 breast cancer patient Gay Buchanan for a small afternoon tea to raise funds for breast cancer grew into an incredible event, welcoming over 250 people on a perfect sunny Sunday!
Gay said she was absolutely delighted by the success of the event and thanked everyone who helped make the fundraiser a success, in particular her family.
“Family and friends, new and old, from near and far supported us with their encouragement, assistance and donations. The feedback from people who attended has been lovely – with many describing it as a fun day out filled with positive energy and wonderfully entertaining,” she said.
“This event would not have been possible without the generous support and goodwill of local businesses, which donated many thousands of dollars’ worth of prizes and sponsorship.
“Likewise, a big thank you to everyone who has donated throughout our fundraiser. Your generosity is truly heartwarming.
“My husband Brian, daughter Kate and I are delighted with the success of the day and thrilled to announce that we’ve raised an amazing $20,000 across our fundraising campaign! This money goes directly to BCNA to benefit people affected by breast cancer.
“Much of this incredible result is due to Kate‘s absolute commitment, energy, enthusiasm and sheer hard work. We are very proud of our darling daughter. Thank you also to Brian for his steadfast support and hard work behind the scenes on all fronts, too… and on the spinning wheel! It was very much a family effort to make this event happen.”
