Circa 1900? This image from the Verey collection (no. 10366) features the Castlemaine railway Goods shed at a time when rolling stock accidentally damaged part of the south wall. The damage occurred mainly on the western section of the shed however, a narrow section of the Eastern shed was also damaged as well. The original double shed was built in the 1860s and it is unclear when this accident occurred. Available photographs confirm that this double shed was in existence in 1880, but the western half of the complex appears to have been demolished sometime after 1914. There is the possibility that the damage caused in this accident (whenever it occurred) was the catalyst for demolishing the western half of the shed, but this has not been confirmed.
