Highly anticipated retrospective exhibition Castlemaine Art Museum’s First Blockbuster: Sir Leslie Thornton opened in March to huge crowds and an overwhelmingly appreciative response.

Sir Leslie, one of Castlemaine’s most loved artists, has been contributing to the arts scene in the area for over fifty years.

This survey exhibition features around 130 of Les’ works, including many which depict buildings in Castlemaine and surrounds.

The exhibition is accompanied by a program of public events, including intimate tours of the work with Sir Les himself, and a workshop for children planned for June.

On Saturday May 3, Melissa Scott and Jan Palethorpe, from Missjonesroses will present a performance-based project Msguided – a gallery jaunt with an elevated difference.

Jan and Melissa are part of Girls On Air, a small troupe of high flying presenters from Castlemaine 94.9 Main FM Radio, and both are artists in their own rights.
