Swinging into autumn

Last Thursday at Castlemaine Golf Club, players observed a minute's silence in honour of Anzac Day before embarking on a four-man Ambrose event with sixteen teams spread across the course following a shotgun start. The triumphant team, comprising James Fox, Brenton Hinks, Rhys Webb, and Lachlan Brook from Neanger Park, secured victory with an impressive score of 57.125. Close behind, Nic Simpson, Bryan Fitzgerald, Michael Marden, and Ryan Quinoy clinched the runner-up position with a final score of 59.875. Megan Carroll claimed the Nearest the Pin award on the 4th hole, while Les Prendergast triumphed on both the 7th and 12th holes.

Tuesday's nine hole competition at Mount Alexander Golf Club saw Eileen Strong win the ladies stroke round with 31 nett, runner-up with 32-1/2 nett was Myrl Hauser. Judy Ewing won the putting with 14.

Popular Parkrun

On their first cold morning of the year Castlemaine Parkrun had 96 participants, 20 of whom were walkers. They welcomed three first timers and 16 visitors. The visitors had travelled to Castlemaine from Perth, Canberra, Melbourne, Tamworth and Launceston. Donna, our Launceston visitor had a good running story to tell.

The Castlemaine Auskick Program proudly supported by the Castlemaine Football Netball Club kicked off at the Wesley Hill Oval last Sunday April 21.

Champions crowned at Castlemaine GC

Following her victory on Tuesday, Jen Dyer (23) once again clinched the top spot at Castlemaine Golf Club, boasting an impressive score of 71 nett. Her outstanding performance not only secured her the overall win but also earned her the April monthly medal and the B Grade title.

Exciting finish to Bisley Shield and Challenge Cup

Castlemaine Rifle Club members contested the sixth stage of the club championship on Saturday. Shooting was over the middle distances of 500 and 600 yards. There was only a light breeze with some mirage that changed direction quite quickly. It was also the final of the 'Bisley Shield' for target rifle shooters and the 'F Class Challenge Cup' for F Class shooters.

Golf competition heats up

Forty players competed in a stableford round at Castlemaine Golf Club last Thursday. Many were preparing for round two of the championships. Gavin Lang (7) was in top form clinching the victory and claiming the A Grade title after a three-way countback with Harald Domanski and Ross Bottomley, all tallying 35 points. Ross Bottomley (5) secured the A Grade runner-up spot with 34 points.
