Last Thursday at Castlemaine Golf Club it was the final scorecard submitted that clinched both the overall victory and the top spot in A Grade.

Rob Prendergast’s remarkable performance, boasting a Stableford score of 40 points, was highlighted by an impressive tally of four birdies and one eagle. In A Grade, Nathan Domanski (3) secured the runner-up position with a commendable 38 points.

In the B Grade division, Garry Moore emerged victorious after a countback with Jim Dimopoulos, both players scoring a commendable 35 points. Meanwhile, C Grade witnessed a standout performance from Mick Kehoe, who posted an impressive score of 38 points, securing a comfortable lead of 5 points over Ian Shields, who finished on 33 points.

Eighteen birdies were recorded, Daniel Pollard hit five, Rob Prendergast hit four, Leigh Campbell hit two and singles to seven others. Nearest the pin prizes were awarded to Peter McCoombe for his drive on the 7th hole, while Nathan Domanski was closest on the 12th.

In the nine hole competition early on Saturday 10 players battled it out to secure the top spot.

In form, Mary Harris (31) carded 19 points and took the win, after a countback with Kevin Adams (19).

Saturday also saw nearly 50 players engaging in a stableford round in optimal golfing conditions. Among them, eight players achieved scores exceeding 35 points, yet experience prevailed as Les Prendergast (8) emerged victorious with an impressive score of 40 points.

In A Grade Gavin Lang (8) secured second place with 37 points. In the B Grade division, despite four players tying at 35 points, Peter Verlaan (13) clinched the victory, closely pursued by Jim Dimopoulos (15). Neil Webster (12) and Billy Burgess (16) followed closely.

In C Grade Alister Campbell (17) claimed the top spot with 35 points, narrowly surpassing Grant Thomas (21) on 34 points. The standout moment of the round occurred when Daniel Pollard achieved an eagle on the fifth hole. Throughout the day, birdies were plentiful, with a total of 29 recorded. Rob Prendergast, Daniel Pollard, and Matthew O’Brien each managed three birdies, while Samuel Grimes, Nigel Wilson, Alister Campbell, and Gavin Lang each secured two. Nearest the Pin prizes on the day for their accuracy on the 7th and 12th holes, respectively.

Saturday was also the grand final round of the match play competition. Glenn Carroll triumphed over Greg Crowe on the first extra hole to win. Congratulations to both players for making the final.

Tuesday’s stableford round witnessed some high scores from the lady competitors. Glenda Jefferies (41), finished with an outstanding score of 40 points, clinching both the overall victory and the B Grade title. Helen McEwen (34) secured the runner-up position with an impressive 39 points, trailing just behind Glenda. In the A Grade category, Bronwyn Gudgeon (23) emerged victorious after a countback against Swee Ho (27), with both players tallying
