The Castlemaine Junior Sports Star of the Week is Campbells Creek Colts cricketer and talented soccer player Sam Gearing.

Name: Sam Gearing

School: Winters Flat Primary School

Age: 12

Sport: Cricket

How long have you been training? This season is my first! I joined Campbells Creek Colts.

Can you tell us about some of your sporting highlights? I got two wickets in my first ever match and I recently got an award for the best hit of the match.

Who is an athlete you admire? Kylian Mbappe from Paris-St Germain football team (international soccer).

What are your sporting goals? To bowl a maiden over in cricket. In soccer, to kick my first goal. (I’m usually a defender).

Do you play any other sports? Yes, soccer! I love it.

Any highlights in soccer? I’ve played for Castlemaine Goldfields Football Club (soccer) for two years and it’s my favourite sport. My team improved a lot in 2023 and I’ve loved making so many new soccer friends to start secondary school with in 2024.
