Tropical Depression

After recently signing his first ever record deal with ABC Music, literally signing whilst hilariously sledding down a Nashville ski-slope, acclaimed Australian Indie-folk singer/songwriter Jordie Lane is releasing his fourth studio album Tropical Depression today! Lane will be heading to The Bridge Hotel in Castlemaine on Friday, August 23 to treat audiences to a performance of his recent singles, The Changing Weather and Blame Me If You Want To, and his standout single, Biscuit House, which is sure to resonate with those who at times doubt themselves. “Long story short, Biscuit House is about ‘Imposter Syndrome’," Lane said. "Something so many people feel at some point in their life, but especially creatives in the arts. We’re constantly evolving and trying new things, but ever questioning ourselves for better and (mainly) worse. "I personally have always dreamed of the wide open spaces, and being a cowboy, an outlaw. It couldn’t be further from the truth, cause I ain’t none of that! I’m a city kid, with an over imaginative mind," he said. Lane has continued to delight audiences around the world now for over a decade, performing major festivals in the US, UK, Australia, and Canada. He has toured with a wide range of international legends, from Gotye to Billy Bragg, Cat Power to Old Crow Medicine Show, Ruthie Foster to The Moody Blues and several tours with Aussie legends The Waifs. His latest album was recorded in Nashville, Tennessee, with Grammy nominated producer, engineer and instrumentalist Jon Estes, and mixed by famed engineer Noah Georgeson and mastered by Juno Award winning Phillip Shaw Bova. With Irreverent wit and satirical commentary, the songs on Tropical Depression tackle (among other things) Lane’s own experience with severe weather (ignited by a close call with an EF-3 Tornado) and its eventual collision with his own mental health battles. Jordie Lane at The Bridge Hotel, 21 Walker St, Castlemaine. Doors open at 8.30pm. For more information or to buy tickets visit: thebridgehotelcastlemaine.com/gigs.
